BMX Chain
The chain is a part of a bike that's responsible for transferring your pedaling power created by the rider onto the rear wheel. Your chain needs to be extremely strong and durable so it doesn't snap on impacts and heavy pedaling which comes with BMX-ing.
Half-Link Chain Or Single Speed Chain
The main difference between the 2 chains is that half link is designed to work as both inner and outer link where the single speed chain has individual inner and outer links. Both half link chain and single chains have their advantages and disadvantages.
Half link chains come with a lot of advantages and the biggest of them all is the ability for precise adjust-ability to the chain's length. The half links allow you to adjust the chain 1/2 links at a time allowing for small changes at a time to the placement of the rear wheel. The biggest disadvantage is the weight of the thick side plates which increase the overall weight of the chain.
Biggest advantage of a single speed chain is it's weight. Single speed chains are extremely lightweight and if that is what you are looking for from a chain then single speed is the way to go. The design of a single speed chain has been around since the beginning of the sport! The biggest downside to a single speed chain is it's adjust-ability. You can only adjust the chain by 2 1/2 links at a time making it impossible to make any small changes to the rear wheel placement.
Overall we believe that the half-link chain is the way to go however, it all comes down to personal preference so get creative and see what works for you when choosing your chain!
