What Do You Need To Know About BMX Grips?
Grips is the part of a BMX that is put on the handle bars in order to help the rider with keeping control over the bars and prevent their hands from slipping off. When choosing your BMX grips, there are endless sizes and designs to choose from and it is all about preference at end of the day. Some grip designs or sizes might work for you but not necessarily for somebody else!
BMX grips can either be flanged or flangeless. Flange is a disc-like shape at the end of a grip that gives you some additional control as it prevents your hands from slipping down the bars. However, there is a major disadvantage to flanged grips as they can make certain tricks such as bar spins a lot harder to perform.
Also it is very important to take into consideration the hardness of the grips that you are getting. Grips can be either made from Soft or Hard rubber. Soft grips tend to be a lot more grippy however, they will not last you very long.
Different BMX Grips Sizes
BMX grips come in various different lengths. From what we noticed, the most popular size for BMX grips is between 155mm-165mm however, these can vary from 100mm-250mm. When it comes to choosing the right size, it is important to take into account how much of your hand space on the bars you want to have covered and the diameter of your bars to make sure the grips are sitting nice and tight on the bars.
