What is The Purpose of BMX Stem?
BMX stem is a part on your BMX bike that connects to the fork and handlebars in order to keep them attached to the frame.
A stem plays a big role in how your BMX bike is going to feel. Height and length are the two main factors that should be looked at when choosing your BMX stem. Both of these factors can make a huge difference to the feel of your bike.. A short stem will make the front of your BMX more responsive as the balance point will come at you quicker than it would with a longer stem. If the stem is shorter, height wise, it will keep the handlebars further away from your chest and a taller stem will keep them closer. To put it into a life situation, if you are going to run longer stem and fork with a long wheel offset, it will be harder for you to go up on the front wheel but will provide you with more control over the bike.
Top-Load or Front-Load Stem?
Your BMX handlebars can be mounted onto the stem in two different ways, on the top of the stem (Top-load) or on the front of it (Front-load). Top-load stems are usually preferred by the taller riders as it places the bars a little higher up. Front-load stem on the other hand places the bars a little further away from the rider which can be a good choice for both short and tall riders.
